Press Releases (2001-2010): November 17th, 2009 - Chris Edwards contacts Shelley Berkely (D-NV) about getting the NFL to relax rules for Las Vegas advertisers in order for them to be seen on our shopXLIV.com Super Bowl XLIV Commercials in 2010. During the Super Bowl Commercial project for Shop.com in 2002, we contacted Gov. Goodwin of Nevada, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the ad agency for the city of Las Vegas and others about showing off a Las Vegas Hotel as part of a 3 second Hotwire tv-clip that would be approvable by the NFL. A year later, the city of Las Vegas tried to run a Super Bowl commercial on their own and were rejected by the NFL. Orlando, Florida November 13,2009 – Chris Edwards (CLE Productions) introduces the most exiting and profitable opportunity for advertisers to reach the 100-200 Million (up to 500 Million world-wide viewers) Super Bowl XLIV TV viewers on February 7, 2010. We invite online merchants, offline retailers, previous Super Bowl Dot com's,traditional offline advertisers and ad agencies to co-sponsor 1-7.5 second presentation space within our commercials. Co-sponsors save hundreds of thousands of dollars off regular Super Bowl minimum ad prices and can reach the same viewers for lower than $1 CPM (cost per 1000 viewers). In addition, for National Prime-Time advertisers, we created a "performance guarantee" which guarantees 1 Million visitors to a co-sponsor's web site during 2010 through exclusive advertising space within the Comparison Shopping Network and Search Engine Network. Also, traditional digital media companies can simply purchase advertising from us in the form of visitors to their web site and at no cost they will get a commercial spot on the commercials. We are inviting major actors and dignitaries similar to the ones we solicited for Shop.com in 2002, such as William Shatner (Priceline.com), Leonard Nimoy (Nextwavetv.com) and Alyssa Milano to do voice-overs. After Super Bowl XLIV, CLE Productions plans NFL Pro Bowl Commercials and Local Cable spots throughout the upcoming year using our network of shopping related domain names. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Link to Shop.com in 2002 and 2001-2002 press releases written by Chris Edwards) November 1st, 2001 - Shop.com and Shop.com Inc launch Super Bowl Commercial bid; solicits President Bush for quote "It's American's Patriotic Duty to Shop" In
response to a slowing economy and lagging consumer confidence, the September
11th attacks and the following reduction in holiday travel, and our convincing
of President Bush to use the phrase, “Its American’s Patriotic Duty to SHOP”,
the first use of the President’s quote will be during our Super Bowl XXXVI
Ads. President Bush has also recently
been on a 2 week tour to promote the economy.
Shop.com Inc's efforts to boost the e-conomy include a Super Bowl XXXVI co-sponsor
sales tour in the Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington through February
1st. "Each and every possible
co-sponsor that can spend $50,000 or more for a Super Bowl spot, and guarantee
visitors to their web site should take advantage of this once in a lifetime
opportunity" - Shop.com Inc will present an advertisers web site, product
or Dot com along with Shop.com along with other co-sponsor merchants. "Our goal is to fill all available
pre-game and prime time commercial space for Fox and Fox Sports and to
guarantee the success of our advertisers at the same time" With
the acquisition of Shop.com earlier this year, Shop.com Inc is excited to be
the very first Online Advertising Agency to coordinate a shopping co-op
commercial tv ad during a Super Bowl. Utilizing Shop.com merchants, past Super
Bowl advertisers and new clients, we are able to acquire more ad time thus
filling in more ad space for Fox Sports.
According to Jim Burnett, V.P. of Sales for Fox Sports, we are the first
online agency to offer less than 15-second spots within our own
commercials. Fox Sports and other news
agencies noted that all the efforts and successes of Shop.com Inc and Shop.com
regarding the Super Bowl may be press worthy events. Shop.com
Inc and Shop.com will also introduce the largest prize giveaway and donation
opportunity to the world. Viewers who
visit shop.com can sign up for our “Long Island Giveaway" and daily Prize
Giveaways as well as non-profit sections for donations. These donations include
the Red Cross, New York and New Jersey Port Authority and hundreds of newly
added non-profit organizations to Shop.com.
By game time Shop.com Inc will launch the opportunity for these
non-profit organizations to use the Shop.com portal as their shopping content
on their web site and as a result generate revenue from those visitors. This revenue will act as a donation to each
and every non-profit organization who signs up. In addition, each visitor to Shop.com can elect to donate money
to their selected non-profit based a small percentage of the products they buy
from merchants listed on Shop.com. We
will not only build the largest shopping in the world but also will help make
the world a better place. About

Shop.com Inc was able to get on last minute commercials in pre-game and immediately following the game, before X-Files on February 3rd, 2002 local FOX Las Vegas Clark County and two other California counties. Contact FOX, Las Vegas for copies. After launching the first Price & Product Comparison shopping site on the Internet in 1995, and culminating with my work at Price.com (which included the creating of the largest shopping related key-word list, designed to be used in all of the search engines), Malls.com and a search engine company; but looking for a dot com domain name to put on the upcoming Super Bowl Commercials. In June, 2001, CNET Inc. was negotiating to buy Shopping.com, while I was working on a deal with Alex Jacobsen of Shop.com on a revenue share deal that included 1 year to put it on the Super Bowl and increase it's dot com value. Alex Jacobsen sold Shop.com in late 2002 to Amazon.com and others for $15M.
On September 10th, 2001 a Monday, we (Chris Edwards, Jeremiah Ostrander (VP of Shop.com Inc.) and several others were expecting Alex to let us begin promoting Shop.com and sign the final contract Tuesday morning. He had two questions about individual words in the contract that we confirmed their meaning on that Monday. Expecting to have a signed contract by 9AM EST time September 11th, 2001, Jeremiah and I stayed up all night, which we hadn't done for many months if not longer, I looked at the microwave in our Home Office, it was 5:45 am, Las Vegas time, 8:45 EST, I asked Jeremiah that we immediatley go across the street to Arizona Charlies, West (a chain of Restaurant/Casino's in Las Vegas) and get a cup of coffee before calling Alex at 9AM EST in Manhattan.. We immediatley leave across the streat, taking no more that 1-2 minutes. The first plane hits the north tower at 8:46 EST. We were the only two customers in there with many employees all over and a hundred TV sets on but the volume down. We see live video after the first tower on fire as we get our coffee. Out of the corner of our eyes we see the 2nd plane hit, and the employees turned all of the TVs up and it was then we knew there was a serious problem and our Shop.com deal was in serious trouble. When President Bush announces to leave Florida, we leave Arizona Charlies. My receipt from Arizona Charlies is time stamped 7:03 approximately when the first tower fell and President Bush was in the air. As we reach home, CNN reports with a blank page with everything blank but "World Trade Centers Collapse". I immediately buy the domain name www.WorldTradeCentersCollapse.com with the knowledge that new phrases put out by the news may be very useful and valuable in the future. We don't get back in touch with Alex until 11PM that night. Everything was fine at his house in NY, but since he was only 3 miles from the Towers, he did have people that needed housing stay over at his place. Sept 12th, 2001, our customer Hotwire announces that they are cancelling their entire marketing budget. It took 13 more days, until September 24th 2001 until we signed the contract to acquire Shop.com into the shopping network.
We immediately contacted the White House and Andy Card with (2) proposals about getting the public out to "shop and take a trip". September 28th 2001, Major Political dignitaries, including President Bush begin telling the public "It's Amercian's Patriotic Duty to Shop" These are terms we used in (2) proposals we sent to his office. In October, 2001 President was at Ground Zero telling the public "It's American's Patriotic Duty to Shop". We contacted the White House on September 24th via a phone number given to us by Shelley Berkley (D-NV) for Helen Mobley, President Bush's secretary; and two conversations with Andy Card about approval to use the quote and endorsing Shop.com... Our request went unaswered. We received a letter from the White House in December 2001, Gold Stamped and signed by Andy Card that said the White House doesn't sponsor, endorse or even do this type of advertising. Many who were there know, even as we were running into Fox/NFL deadlines for the Super Bowl Commercials that the CEO of Kay Diamonds, IBM (one of our largest clients) and dozens of others said that they would sign on to a Super Bowl Commercial if we had a letter from the President or proof of President Bushs endorsement. It never came. IBM liked the Super Bowl idea so much, a year later IBM becomes the NFL's official technology sponsor. During this Super Bowl Commercial project for Shop.com, we contacted Gov. Goodwin of Nevada, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the ad agency for the city of Las Vegas and others about showing off a Las Vegas Hotel as part of a Hotwire tv-clip that would be approvable by the NFL. The city of Las Vegas tried to run a Super Bowl commercial on their own in 2004 and were rejected by the NFL. November 17th 2009, Chris Edwards contacts Shelley Berkely (D-NV) about getting the NFL to relax rules for Las Vegas advertisers in order for them to be seen on our shopXLIV.com Super Bowl XLIV Commercials in 2010. Click to view actual email sent to Congresswoman Shelley Berkely. Here was our letter sent to President Bush and Chief of Staff Andy Card in September 2001; through his personal secretary Helen Mobley and was also carbon copied to Congresswoman of Nevada Shelley Berkeley. Andy Cards response came in a letter from the White House in December 2001, stating that the White House doesnt endorse or support this type of venture and the White House refused to offer approval to use his quote. In February 2002, CNN reports that -the White House is going to spend the most of money in the history of the White House on Advertising-, (2) Super Bowl commercials costing $4.8 Million total. Andy Card directed the White House (Office of National Drug Control Policy) of America to run Two commercials that said, if you use drugs, you support terrorism. This was the first time the World saw those commercials. Click to watch the 2002 White House, Office of National Drug Control Policy of America (ONDCP) Commercials. (I couldnt find this specific commercial in Youtube, Google Video, Google or Yahoo ...anywhere but one place, Spike.com). A few years later, Ron Paul (R-TX) and the Governmental Accounting Office (GAO) announced that these purchases of advertising by the White House were illegal. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shop.com is the 1st
